 Accra Elderly Care Training Center is a new establishment and venture in the homecare field. (Established July  2021)

 Our major area of service is the care for the elderly or aged which is a major challenge identified in our nation.

We are currently offering training that will give individuals the requisite skills to care for the aged or elderly in the comfort of their homes and also help relief the burden relatives have in caring for them especially with no prior skills

Co- Founder of AECTC

I am Jessie and I am a qualified geriatric mental health nurse based in the UK. I come from Ghana and over the past 30 years, I have been working in major acute hospitals and elderly care homes in the community. I have over the years experienced first hand the difference informed care of the elderly makes in the quality of life during old age. There are simple yet important tools that can be used by Just about anybody to monitor the health and wellbeing of the elderly and recuperating. recuperating.

 As a Ghanaian, I am aware that it is in our tradition to care for elderly persons at our own homes and living with us. This is an excellent tradition as family provides the mental and psychological setting for proper care and recuperation. However this can be achieved and optimized only if the person providing the direct care knows well what it takes to do so.

I have co-founded the Accra Elderly Care Training Centre in Accra, to provide basic and essential training for people who live with families and attend to elderly persons. The Accra Elderly Care Training Centre trains such persons on practical and essential task like how to measure, record and Interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, how to manage bed-care in order to prevent bedsores and aspiration in bedside on persons, how to undertake essential physiotherapy and follow directions on nutrition and medications.

We also train on how to perform, record and use visual aids to Interpret the results of rapid malaria test and measure blood sugar levels. Critically, we teach attendants how to recognize danger signs early and draw attention to them. Through train Ing, the Accra Elderly Care Training Centre seeks to profession also the traditional practice of family care of the elderly and recuperating. I encourage you to enroll yourself or the person’s) who care for your beloved relatives, so they can do a good job in taking care of them, and to give them a graceful and comfortable old age

I will also encourage you, the young school leaver to enroll train and get a certificate that can help you get a job as family home-care assistant You will acquire skills that will help you earn income while you perform the blissful and essential task of supporting families to care for their elderly and recuperating rebounds.
